Job summary

Nottingham College is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to work with students with complex and diverse needs, focusing on physical and medical support, and to assist in classroom settings under guidance of teaching staff.

You will help create and update support plans and exam access arrangements, liaise with external professionals, and contribute to student development through transitions and inductions. Background checks and enhanced DBS are required.

Qualifications

• Hold Level 2 Maths and English qualifications or equivalent.
• Experience supporting people with learning support needs.
• Knowledge of inclusion, disabilities and self-advocacy issues.
• Maintain confidentiality and adopt a considerate, tolerant approach.
• Maintain accurate student records and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Work as Learning Support for students with complex and diverse needs, focusing on physical and medical needs.
• Support students in the classroom under teaching colleagues, following TLIP guidance.
• Write, update and implement students’ support documents including exam access arrangements.
• Assess learners’ needs and suggest strategies to support them.
• Assist in transition visits, enrolment and induction to support development.
• Provide feedback and adjust support plans to help students achieve learning aims.
• Assist in preparing learning resources and set up specialist equipment as needed.
• Attend EHCP reviews and provide input on student support.
• Liaise with external professionals where appropriate.
