Job summary

The Hub School in Hull is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Officer to work with vulnerable pupils aged 11-16, primarily alongside the class teacher to remove barriers to learning.

This part-time role (32.5 hours/week, term-time) offers a supportive team, on-site parking, pension, and opportunities for professional development through the apprenticeship levy and our Teacher Training Provider.

Qualifications

• Good standard of Education including Numeracy and Literacy at Level 2 (or equivalent).
• Experience working with vulnerable children/young people in an educational setting is desirable.
• Ability to support learning and overcome barriers to learning (social, emotional, mental health).

Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher in key stage 2/3 settings to aid learning.
• Help create and maintain a purposeful and supportive learning environment.
• Attend team meetings and contribute to development activities outside normal hours as required.

Due to increase in student numbers and our continued school growth, the team at The Hub School are looking to appoint a passionate and highly effective Learning Support Officer who will work within our established team of staff providing for vulnerable young people.

The postholder will predominately work closley with class teacher's providing our primary aged (key stage 2) children/students aged 11-16 (key stage 3) with agreed support to help create and maintain a purposeful and supportive learning environment, particularly helping children/students overcome barriers to learning, including social, emotional and mental health needs.

This post holder will be required to work during school hours, Monday to Friday during the school term 8.30am - 3.30pm. As part of your contractual arrangements, you will be paid for an additional 5 days per year to attend team meetings and training and development outside of your normal working hours.

The actual salary based on a full-time position will be £21,234 per annum, to be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year.

The successful applicant will have a good standard of Education, including Numeracy and Literacy at Level 2 (or equivalent), a good working knowledge and understanding of barriers to learning and previous experience of working with vulnerable children and/or young people in an educational environment.
