Qualifications

• Attended training on curriculum areas or SEN support.
• Good knowledge of at least one learning area (e.g., English, maths, science).
• Understand school policies and local/national frameworks (child protection, health and safety, equal opportunities).
• Can use ICT to support learning and operate related equipment.
• Able to plan own work when required.
• Can translate theory into practical classroom activities.
• Pro-active in offering ideas.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to curriculum planning and evaluation and assist in implementation.
• Assist in the delivery of lessons/sessions and interact with the teacher and pupils as required; undertake learning activities, adjusting as needed.
• Support pupils with independent/group work and help engage learners.
• Promote inclusion and development of self-esteem and positive interactions.
• Assist with the development and implementation of IEPs/behaviour plans.
• Liaise with parents, carers and other professionals when appropriate; participate in meetings.
