Job summary

Harwich and Dovercourt High School is seeking an Associate Teacher to support students across a 32-hour week, term time plus non-pupil days. The role runs 08:15–16:15 on Mon–Tue and 08:15–15:15 on Wed–Fri, across 39 weeks per year.

Qualifications

• An NVQ Level 3 in learning support/early years (or equivalent) with recent experience in a school/early years setting.
• Good understanding of child development and the school curriculum, able to assess progress, motivate learners, and manage classroom behaviour.
• Exceptional communication to build relationships with children, families and staff, with proactive teamwork and information sharing.

Responsibilities

• Collation and organisation of cover work for teaching staff.
• Supervise pupils engaged in learning activities.
• Act as a role model and set high expectations of conduct and behaviour.
• Be aware of and comply with policies on child protection, safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection, reporting concerns as needed.
