Job description

Do you have a passion for supporting children to overcome barriers, build confidence and achieve their full potential? Renaissance Education is looking for caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join our specialist therapeutic school, where every day presents an opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Working closely with teachers, therapists and the wider multidisciplinary team, you'll provide personalised support to pupils both in and out of the classroom, helping them to access learning, develop independence and achieve their individual Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes. You'll support children with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, communication difficulties and sensory processing differences, adapting your approach to ensure every child feels safe, understood and able to succeed. This is far more than a classroom support role. You'll build trusted relationships with pupils, contribute to behaviour and safeguarding strategies, support learning both on and off-site, and work collaboratively with colleagues and families to create an inclusive, nurturing environment where children can flourish. You'll be an integral part of our school community, helping to celebrate every achievement, no matter how small, and encouraging pupils to develop the confidence and resilience they need for lifelong success., Many of the children and young people who attend our specialist therapeutic schools have experienced significant adversity, trauma or complex life experiences. We understand that creating a culture of safety, trust and belonging is fundamental to helping them thrive academically, socially and emotionally. Our approach is rooted in kindness, compassion and a commitment to understanding the individual needs of every child. Working Together to Keep Children Safe Safeguarding is a shared responsibility. We work in close partnership with parents, carers, local authorities, health professionals and other agencies to ensure every child receives the care, support and protection they need. We believe that parents and carers are our most important partners. By working together, sharing information appropriately and maintaining open, honest communication, we can provide children with the consistency, security and support they need to flourish. Supporting Families The challenges facing children and young people continue to evolve. From online safety and social media to mental health, exploitation, bullying and emotional wellbeing, families are navigating an increasingly complex world. Our safeguarding resources are designed to provide practical advice, trusted guidance and up-to-date information to help parents and carers understand potential risks and support their children safely. We are committed to working alongside families, offering advice and signposting additional support whenever it is needed. If you have any concerns about the safety or wellbeing of a child, or would like further advice, we encourage you to speak to a member of our safeguarding team. No concern is too small, and we are always here to listen and help. Our Commitment At Renaissance Education, we are committed to:

  • Creating a culture where every child feels safe, respected, listened to and valued.
  • Promoting the physical, emotional and psychological wellbeing of every pupil.
  • Maintaining robust safeguarding and child protection procedures in line with statutory guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education.
  • Ensuring all staff receive comprehensive safeguarding training and regular updates.
  • Working effectively with external agencies to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes.
  • Teaching pupils how to recognise risks, build resilience and stay safe both online and offline.
  • Encouraging children to speak out, knowing they will always be listened to and taken seriously.
Safeguarding & Safer Recruitment

Renaissance Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects every member of staff, volunteer and visitor to share this commitment. Our recruitment processes reflect our commitment to safer recruitment. All appointments are subject to a rigorous selection process, including enhanced DBS checks, identity and right-to-work verification, reference checks, qualification verification, online searches (where appropriate), and assessment of suitability to work with children in accordance with statutory guidance. Successful applicants will be required to demonstrate their commitment to safeguarding and child-centred practice throughout the recruitment process and during their employment with Renaissance Education.

We're looking for an individual for maternity cover who is patient, compassionate and committed to inclusive education, with a genuine desire to help children reach their potential. In return, you'll join a supportive and ambitious organisation that invests in your professional development, provides ongoing training and values every member of its team.
