Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a proactive Learning Support Assistant in Leeds to help students with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). You will work within a school setting, supporting pupils with ADHD, trauma, and neurodivergence, under the guidance of therapists and teachers.

We welcome graduates in Psychology, Criminology, Youth & Community Work, or related fields, as well as non-graduates with relevant experience. A calm, empathetic approach and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduates in Psychology, Criminology, Youth & Community Work, or related fields.
• Non-graduates with relevant youth work experience encouraged.
• Interest in working with at-risk youths.
• Calm, patient, resilient with de-escalation skills.

The Role:

As a Learning Support Assistant (LSA), you will:

• Support students
• Help students regulate emotions, build resilience, and re-engage with education
• Use restorative practices to encourage positive behaviour
• Work alongside therapists and staff in a holistic, trauma-informed environment

What We are Looking For:

• Graduates in Psychology, Criminology, Youth & Community Work, or related fields.
• Non-graduates with relevant experience in youth work, mentoring, or social care are also encouraged to apply.
• A strong interest in working with young people who are at risk of entering the criminal justice system.
• Sincerity is key - what drives you, and why do you want to support some of the most vulnerable children in society?
• A calm, patient, and resilient approach, with the ability to de-escalate challenging situations.
• Experience (voluntary or paid) with vulnerable young people, SEMH, or youth offending (desirable but not essential—full training provided).
• A genuine passion for advocacy, social justice, and rehabilitation.
