Job summary

Milk Education is seeking an Aspiring Social Justice Officer – Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with SEMH needs in our UK partner schools. This full-time role offers hands-on experience working with young people and a chance to develop restorative practices and trauma-informed approaches.

You'll collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff, helping students regulate emotions, engage with learning, and build resilience. Training is provided.

Qualifications

• Graduates in Psychology, Criminology, Youth & Community Work or related fields.
• Non-graduates with relevant experience in youth work, mentoring or social care are encouraged to apply.
• Strong interest in working with young people at risk of entering the criminal justice system.
• Commitment to social justice and rehabilitation.

Full-time | From £107.71 TO £155 per day

Are you a recent graduate passionate about criminal justice, mental health, or social care? This is your opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in our local school, supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH), including ADHD, trauma, and neurodivergence.

The Role:

As a Learning Support Assistant (LSA), you'll:

• Support students
• Help students regulate emotions, build resilience, and re-engage with education
• Use restorative practices to encourage positive behaviour
• Work alongside therapists and staff in a holistic, trauma-informed environment

What We're Looking For:

• Graduates in Psychology, Criminology, Youth & Community Work, or related fields.
• Non-graduates with relevant experience in youth work, mentoring, or social care are also encouraged to apply.
• A strong interest in working with young people who are at risk of entering the criminal justice system.
• Sincerity is key - what drives you, and why do you want to support some of the most vulnerable children in society?
• A calm, patient, and resilient approach, with the ability to de-escalate challenging situations.
• Experience (voluntary or paid) with vulnerable young people, SEMH, or youth offending (desirable but not essential—full training provided).
