We are a supportive and friendly team, who work together to ensure quality of our provision, within the local community to support the needs of the locality.

We are seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join our Education Centre based in Spalding. The role involves assisting and supporting teaching staff in delivering a broad spectrum of academic and vocational subjects within the classroom and around the centre.

What will I be doing as a Learning Support Assistant?

A Learning Support Assistant plays a critical role in creating a positive learning environment to support learners in achieving their goals. You will ensure that learners receive high-quality support to enable them to make good progress from their starting points.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Identify and maintain focus on achievement of desired outcomes for learners across all subject areas, considering various progression destinations to ensure they are preparing for and participating in suitable opportunities.
  • Understand all learners’ needs, including LDD/SEND, and implement supportive strategies as outlined in the group profile and initial assessment.
  • Actively engage and motivate learners in decisions affecting them, supporting the delivery of tailored programmes that cater to individual needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff on learners’ progress against targets, including qualifications and pastoral support needs.
  • Develop relationships and liaise with external agencies to support learners’ needs, working collaboratively in a multi-agency setting as required.
Essentials for this role:
  • Experience working with LLDD students with SEN, adapting delivery and support to meet individual needs.
  • English and maths: Level 2 or above.
Skills and attributes we are looking for:
  • Understanding the needs of disadvantaged young people and those disengaged from mainstream education, including young people with specific learning needs.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Calm and objective when facing challenges, including managing challenging behaviour.
  • Previous experience in teaching or learning support within an educational setting.
