Learning Support Assistant - Spalding, Peterborough

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our Education Centre in Spalding. The role involves assisting and supporting teaching staff in delivering a broad spectrum of academic and vocational subjects within the classroom and around the centre.

What will I be doing as a Learning Support Assistant?

You will play a vital role in creating a positive learning environment, supporting learners to achieve their goals and make good progress from their starting points. Your duties include:

• Identifying and maintaining focus on learners' achievement across all subject areas, considering various progression destinations.
• Understanding learners’ needs, including those with LDD/SEND, and implementing supportive strategies.
• Engaging and motivating learners, supporting tailored programmes suited to each individual’s needs, interests, and abilities.
• Providing feedback to teaching staff on learners’ progress, targets, qualifications, and pastoral needs.
• Collaborating with external agencies to support learners’ needs in a multi-agency setting.

Essentials for this role:

• Experience working with LLDD students with SEN, adapting delivery and support accordingly.
• English and maths: Level 2 or above.

Skills and attributes we are looking for:

• Understanding of the needs of disadvantaged and disengaged young people, including those with specific learning needs.
• Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage conflicting priorities.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Calm and objective approach to challenges, including managing challenging behaviour.
• Previous experience in teaching or learning support within an education setting.
