Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant in Upminster, Havering. You will support students aged 11-16 in lessons and small groups, focusing on pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties, Speech, Language and Communication Needs, and social development needs.

The role involves delivering targeted interventions, promoting confidence and independence, and working closely with teachers and pastoral teams to create a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs.
• Knowledge of Moderate Learning Difficulties and Speech, Language and Communication Needs.
• Patient, empathetic and proactive approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Commitment to safeguarding and supporting young people.

Responsibilities

• Support students with additional learning needs in lessons across the curriculum.
• Deliver targeted interventions to support academic progress and personal development.
• Encourage communication, confidence and engagement in learning.
• Assist pupils in developing social skills through structured support programmes and social hubs.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND staff and pastoral teams.
• Promote a positive, inclusive and safe learning environment.
