Job summary

Vetro Recruitment is seeking a dedicated SEND Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Liverpool, Merseyside. The role focuses on providing tailored support to pupils with SEND across Key Stage 2 to help them reach their full potential in a nurturing environment.

You will assist with teaching activities, deliver personalised interventions in English and maths, support behaviour and wellbeing, and work with teachers, parents and external professionals to implement tailored support

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
  • Experience with children in a school setting, SEND experience desirable.
  • Enhanced DBS check and right to work in the UK are required.
  • Strong communication, empathy and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility, resilience and high expectations for pupil achievement and behaviour.

Responsibilities

  • Support teaching and learning activities for pupils with SEND.
  • Deliver personalised interventions to promote progress in English and maths.
  • Assist with behaviour management and pastoral support.

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated SEND Support Assistant to join our welcoming primary school in Liverpool, Merseyside. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive team environment, providing tailored support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across Key Stage 2. The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping children achieve their full potential in a nurturing setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting teaching and learning activities for pupils with SEND, ensuring they are fully included in classroom activities.
  • Delivering personalised interventions to promote progress in English and maths.
  • Assisting with behaviour management and pastoral support to foster a positive learning environment.
  • Collaborating with teachers, parents, and external professionals to develop and implement tailored support plans.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • A relevant qualification such as NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children in a school or educational setting, particularly supporting pupils with SEND is highly desirable.
  • Mandatory compliance with an Enhanced DBS Check and the right to work in the UK.
  • Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills, with a patient and positive attitude.
  • Flexibility, resilience, and high expectations for pupil achievement, inclusion, and behaviour.
