Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking Learning Support Assistants to support pupils with SEMH in Shepway and surrounding areas. Immediate start, full-time or part-time opportunities, with weekly pay and CPD access.

You will work with pupils who have SEMH needs, ASC, ADHD, and related challenges, providing one-to-one or small group support, and helping them stay engaged in lessons with positive strategies. DBS check required and cost reimbursed after 20 days of work.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs is desirable.
• Ability to build trust, encourage confidence and help students re-engage with education.
• Caring, resilient attitude and willingness to work with diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Support a young person to stay engaged during lessons.
• Use positive behaviour strategies to help pupils manage emotions.
• Encourage confidence, independence and self‑esteem; work one-to-one or in small groups.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging learning activities and act as a positive role model.

What You'll Be Doing

Every pupil is different, so your day will be varied and rewarding. You could be:

• Supporting a young person to stay engaged during lessons.
• Helping pupils manage their emotions using positive behaviour strategies.
• Encouraging confidence, independence and self-esteem.
• Working one-to-one with pupils or supporting small groups.
• Assisting teachers in delivering creative and engaging learning activities.
• Acting as a positive role model both inside and outside the classroom.
• Celebrating every achievement, no matter how small.

Your support can have a life-changing impact on a young person's education and future.

Who You'll Be Supporting

You’ll work with children and young people who may have:

• Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
• Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
• ADHD
• Trauma and attachment-related needs
• Anxiety and emotional regulation difficulties
• Behavioural challenges that require patient and consistent support

Full guidance and support will be provided by experienced school staff.

What You’ll Need

• The right to work in the UK.
• An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • If required, we’ll reimburse the cost of your new DBS ( 62) after you have completed 20 days of work with Tradewind Recruitment.
