Job summary

The King's Academy Binfield, a secondary school in Berkshire, seeks a Learning Support Assistant for the Secondary Phase to join our Learning Support Department. You will work 1:1 and in small groups, supporting students with diverse needs and contributing to classroom learning.

The role is part-time (32.5 hours/week) across 38 weeks plus 2 days, with a salary package including Outer London Fringe pro rata. An Enhanced DBS check is required; closing date 31 August 2026.

Qualifications

  • Experience assisting students with Specific Learning Difficulties or SEMH is beneficial.
  • Ability to work with students 1:1 and in small groups.
  • Maintain confidentiality and work under pressure; support wider academy life.

Responsibilities

  • Support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Provide classroom assistance when needed.
  • Promote safeguarding and student welfare.
  • Collaborate with SENDCo and the Learning Support team.

About this Role

We are looking for a passionate, talented and collegiate practitioner to join our dedicated team working within the Learning Support Department at King's Academy Binfield - Secondary Phase.

The successful candidates will be part of a team of Learning Support Assistants led by our SENDCo, who will share and learn from one another as the academy grows.

Our new Learning Support Assistant will work with students on both a 1:1 basis and with small groups, as well as supporting within the classroom. Experience of working with students with Specific Learning Difficulties, Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs and ASD would be an advantage although not essential. They will share the academy's vision and the belief that all young people can achieve, whatever it takes.

Other necessary qualities include confidentiality, efficiency and being able to work on your own initiative and under pressure. There is an expectation of a willingness to contribute to the wider life of King's Academy Binfield (KAB) and King's Academy Oakwood (KAO).

King's Academy Binfield opened its doors, in superb new buildings, to secondary students in September 2018 and to primary in 2019. We have grown year on year, with the schools now operating from nursery to Year 13.

KAB and KAO are part of the King's Group Academies MAT led by a team of former and current Ofsted 'outstanding' head teachers and Her Majesty's Inspectors (HMI).

King's Academy Binfield and King's Academy Oakwood are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young students and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will need to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.
