Job summary

Burton and South Derbyshire College is seeking a Learning Support Assistant for Additional Needs Learners. The role is fixed-term until 31 August 2027, with term-time hours and a 09:00-16:30 schedule. Multiple pro-rata salaries are listed depending on department support needs and hours.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting learners with SEND is a bonus but not required.
  • Applicants should be qualified to, or willing to work towards, Level 2 English and Maths. Evidence of qualifications is required.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of learners.

Responsibilities

  • Support learners in Early Years, Performing Arts, Hair and Beauty, Apprenticeships and the Andrew Philips Unit.
  • Build positive relationships and communicate effectively with learners, staff and support networks.
  • Work well independently and as part of a team, with flexibility for learner needs and events.

32.5 hours a week supporting learners in Early Years - £17,694

26 hours a week supporting learners in Performing Arts - £14,155

32.5 hours a week supporting learners in Hair and Beauty - £17,694

19.5 hours a week supporting learners on Apprenticeships - £10,616

33 hours a week supporting learners in our Andrew Philips Unit for learners with high needs - £17,966

Working day is 09:00-16:30

Experience supporting individuals with SEND is a bonus but not a requirement. We’re committed to providing training and support to help you succeed in the role.

Please be aware the roles are fixed term until 31 August 2027 at which point they will be reviewed for the new academic year beginning 1 September 2027.
