Job summary

Horndean Technology College is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to support students on the SEN register. The role involves assisting in lessons and helping with exams, with potential to run 1:1 or small group interventions.

The successful candidate will have strong communication, patience and teamwork, plus general literacy, numeracy and IT skills. The post is 29.42 hours per week during term time, with a salary band £16,864–£17,090 (FTE £24,796–£25,128).

Qualifications

• Solid literacy, numeracy and IT skills are required to assist across subjects.
• Experience with students who display challenging behaviour is desirable.

Areyou a graduate considering a career in teaching and looking for some experienceof working within a school first? Or, not looking to get into teaching,but would like to work with our students as aLearning Support Assistant, then we would like to hear from you.

Weare looking to expand our team of Learning Support Assistants to meetthe current needs of our students on the SEN register. Thesuccessful candidate should have good communication skills, patience, aflexible approach, as well as the ability to work within a team. Aboveall, it is essential that you willbe committed to supporting students with SpecialEducational Needs. You will need to have a good general education withsound literacy, numeracy and IT skills to be able toprovide support to students across all subjects. Knowledge andexperience of working with students who display challenging behaviour isdesirable.

Thesuccessful candidate would be involved with supporting students inlessons and helping with exams, but there is potential for planning and running1:1 or small group interventions. Knowledge or experience of working withchildren who have learning difficulties is desirable, however this is notessential as training in these areas can be provided.
