Job summary

Bearbrook Combined School is seeking a dedicated teaching support role to work with children, including those with special or particular needs. The post involves aiding planning, adapting materials, preparing displays, and helping with learning activities both in class and in withdrawal settings.

You will assist with supervision during assemblies and outings, promote positive social skills, and contribute to the school's safeguarding and confidentiality policies.

Qualifications

• Experience in supporting individuals or groups of children in educational settings (reading, writing, practical activities).
• Awareness of vulnerable groups, including pupils eligible for pupil premium funding.
• Ability to support development of independent learning skills.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual children with special or particular needs and groups as directed.
• Assist with planning, organising, and supervising visits and outings.
• Prepare classroom and teaching areas, materials, and notices for display.
• Support children in reading, writing, practical, and creative activities within classroom or withdrawal settings.
• Provide feedback on pupils’ difficulties and progress to teachers and SENDCo / Inclusion Co-ordinator.
• Participate in evaluating support programmes with teachers.
