Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment Ltd in Oldham is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant/Teaching Assistant to support primary students in a SEN unit. This full-time role, based in Oldham, offers an ASAP start and a chance to contribute to the progress and wellbeing of vulnerable children.

You will work to support SEMH needs, manage challenging behaviour, and assist learning through individual and group support, with a focus on positive reinforcement and holistic development.

Qualifications

• Have experience as a teaching assistant/learning support assistant.
• Believe in taking a holistic approach to the child's learning journey.
• Be calm and empathetic but able to set boundaries.
• Be trustworthy and reliable.
• Genuinely want to make a different to the lives of vulnerable young people.

Responsibilities

• Support the social, emotional, mental health (SEMH) needs of students.
• Be willing and able to deal with challenging behaviour.
• Support the learning of children in the class, including individual, small and large groups.
• Monitor and support children that have social, emotional and/or mental health (SEMH) difficulties, and possibly other special educational needs.
• Support the students academically, socially and emotionally, encouraging positive behaviour and using positive reinforcement.
