Job summary

Teaching Vacancies is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant for Howden Junior School in the East Riding area. The role supports learning and care for pupils, helping with language, numeracy, social skills, and daily activities within a warm, collaborative team.

The post is part-time (up to 25 hours weekly during term time, plus additional hours for lunchtime supervision) with a fixed-term contract to 31 July 2027. Salary is £15,338.92 per annum, paid over 12 months.

Qualifications

• Level 2 TA qualification or willingness to work towards.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate pupil participation and learning individually or in small groups.
• Clarify and explain instructions; ensure pupils can use equipment provided.
• Assist in language, literacy, numeracy, and social skills development.
• Support lunchtime supervision and daily care needs.
• Liaise with the class teacher and SENCO on individual needs.
• Develop resources to support pupils’ progress.
