Job summary

East Riding of Yorkshire Council's Howden Junior School vacancy is for a part-time Teaching Assistant. The role supports teaching, learning and care of children during school terms, with hours up to 25 per week, Monday to Friday. The actual salary is £15,338.92 per annum, paid in 12 equal instalments, fixed term until 31 July 2027.

The post involves lunchtime supervision and a commitment to helping pupils develop confidence, literacy and numeracy, under supervision and within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Level 2 TA qualification or willingness to work towards.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate pupil participation and learning individually or in small groups.
• Help build pupils' confidence and self-esteem.
• Support in identified areas such as language, behaviour, reading, numeracy, ICT, and EAL.
• Assist pupils to concentrate and finish work; meet physical needs while promoting independence.
• Liaise with class teacher and SENCO about individual needs.
