Job summary

Wheatfields Infants' and Nursery School is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to help pupils who need extra help to overcome barriers to learning. You will report to the Deputy Head and work under the supervision of the class teacher, contributing to the school’s vision and Trust values.

Your duties include supporting pupil learning, understanding planned adaptive strategies, and assisting with administrative tasks.

Qualifications

• Experience in supporting pupils with learning barriers.
• Ability to interpret planning and adapt strategies for individual pupils.
• Understanding of behaviour as communication to support emotional needs.
• Ability to scaffold and model learning to boost pupil confidence.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils’ learning using specialist knowledge or experience.
• Communicate with the class teacher to understand adaptive strategies for learning.
• Support pupils’ emotional needs through behaviour awareness and communication.
• Scaffold learning to enable tasks completed independently and build self-confidence.
• Assist with records, preparation of resources and admin tasks for the teacher.
• Liaise with parents, carers and staff to promote learning objectives.
• Supervise small groups during short-term teacher absences.
