Job summary

Waterloo Lodge School in Chorley, Lancashire is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to help students with social and emotional needs. You’ll support learning across classrooms, outdoor activities and life skills while modelling resilience and confidence.

Ideal candidates will have GCSEs in English and Maths, strong communication, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed. The role is permanent, term-time only, with a 40-hour week.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Flexible and proactive attitude.
• Experience with children or vulnerable individuals beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Supporting students in the classroom, in small groups and on a one-to-one basis.
• Building positive, trusting relationships that help students feel safe, valued and ready to learn.
• Working alongside teachers to deliver engaging and personalised learning experiences.
• Encouraging students' independence, confidence, communication and social development.
• Supporting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing through a calm and consistent approach.
• Assisting with enrichment activities, outdoor learning, educational visits and life skills opportunities.
• Monitoring progress and celebrating achievements, no matter how big or small.
