Job summary

Cornfield School in Littlehampton invites applications for a Learning Support Assistant to help students overcome learning barriers and reach their potential. You will work with teachers and pastoral staff to support engagement, confidence and independence both in and out of the classroom.

The role requires patience, resilience and a genuine commitment to supporting boys with SEMH needs; recent SEN experience is advantageous and strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support students individually and in small groups to overcome barriers to learning.

The Role:

The role of our Learning Support Assistant is vital in helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential. Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff, you will provide tailored support both in and out of the classroom, helping to build students’ confidence, engagement, and independence. This role requires patience, resilience, and a genuine commitment to supporting boys with social, emotional and behavioural needs, creating a safe and positive environment where every student feels valued and able to succeed.

It is important to be able to maintain a level of calm and have excellent communication skills with both adults and young people. It is essential to have good organisational skills, the ability to multitask and act as a role model for students.

The ideal applicant will have recent experience of working with children with SEN, however experience in Social, Emotional and Communication Difficulties would be advantageous.

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday

What You Need to Succeed

To be successful in this role you will need to be able to support woking with children who have SEMH needs and challenging behaviours. Having experience in this area will be advantageous.
