Job summary

Midlothian Council seeks Learning Assistant ASN positions at Bonnyrigg Primary School. The roles are fixed-term until 29/06/2027, with part-time hours (23 hrs/week and 27.5 hrs/week) across 39 weeks per year, Monday–Friday.

Minimum annual salaries are £16,082.97 and £19,229.64 respectively, with progression according to salary scales and council policy. Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Children and may need to present overseas criminal record

Qualifications

• Evidence of basic literacy and numeracy at required level.
• Experience working in childcare/education field.
• Willingness to undertake additional training courses (e.g. first aid, calm techniques).
• Registration with or willingness to work towards SSSC registration within six months for nursery posts.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff and pupils.

Responsibilities

• Respond to the needs of individual pupils and provide sensitive support.
• Support pupils with development and learning in a nursery/primary environment.
• Collaborate with colleagues and participate in required training and PVG processes.
