Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a secondary school in Sefton (L37) starting September 2026. The role runs 8:30am to 3:30pm, full-time, providing targeted support to students with additional needs and assisting teachers with lesson delivery.

You will work one-on-one or in small groups, help maintain a positive classroom environment, and contribute to inclusive practices.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children.
• Experience supporting individuals with additional needs.
• Up-to-date safeguarding training (desirable).
• Right to Work in the UK.
• DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or willingness to apply.
• Two professional references covering 24 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher in managing the classroom, preparing materials, and implementing lesson plans.
• Help manage and improve student behaviour, ensuring a positive learning environment.

Learning Support Assistant

Location: Sefton, L37

Start Date: September 2026

Contract Type: Full-time

Working Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm

Pay: Paid to scale

Responsibilities

• Supporting Students: Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with additional needs, helping them engage and succeed in their studies.
• Classroom Assistance: Assist the class teacher in managing the classroom, preparing materials, and implementing lesson plans.
• Behavioural Support: Help manage and improve student behaviour, ensuring a positive and conducive learning environment.
• Encouraging Inclusion: Ensuring students feel valued and supported in the classroom.
• Monitoring Progress: Helping students achieve their learning goals.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working with children.
• Experience supporting individuals with additional needs.
• Up-to-date Safeguarding training (desirable, but not essential as training will be provided).
• Right to Work in the UK.
• Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or willingness to apply for a new one.
• Ability to provide a minimum of two professional references covering 24 months/to cover the last 2 years
