Position Details

Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

Location: Ormskirk, L39

Start Date: January 2026

Contract Type: Full-time

Working Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm

Pay: Paid to scale

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with additional needs, helping them engage and succeed in their studies (Supporting Students).
• Assist the class teacher in managing the classroom, preparing materials, and implementing lesson plans (Classroom Assistance).
• Help manage and improve student behaviour, ensuring a positive and conducive learning environment (Behavioural Support).
• Ensure students feel valued and supported in the classroom (Encouraging Inclusion).
• Help students achieve their learning goals (Monitoring Progress).

Requirements

• Previous experience working with children.
• Experience supporting individuals with additional needs.
• Up-to-date Safeguarding training (desirable, but not essential as training will be provided).
• Right to Work in the UK.
• Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or willingness to apply for a new one.
• Ability to provide a minimum of two professional references/to cover the last 2 years.
