Job summary

Job description

Hazel Grove High School is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join their team. This is a fantastic role for someone passionate about supporting students with a variety of learning needs. You'll work alongside teachers to provide one-on-one or small group support and empower students to reach their full potential. Here at the Laurus Trust, we provide a cutting-edge SEND provision that positively impacts our young people. We are currently looking to recruit caring and dedicated individuals to join our SEND team. You will play a vital role in enhancing students' progress while promoting their independence, self-esteem, and social inclusion. A comprehensive professional learning program is in place, and all schools have designated workspaces for staff. We offer a broad range of SEND training focused on whole school issues as well as specific training for SEND teams.

This position is contracted for 32 hours per week, Term Time Only. You will mainly work when the school is open to pupils and will not need to work during school holidays unless required by the contract. In total, you will work for a minimum of 37 weeks out of 52.

  • Work with teachers to enhance student progress, while promoting independence, self-esteem, and social inclusion.
  • Support identified students within the classroom environment, in small group situations, in mainstream and resource base classes.

Key Skills and Experiences

  • Sound educational background, including GCSEs in Maths and English (A*-C) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with vulnerable young people and/or those with special educational needs.
  • Experience delivering interventions to small groups or on a one-to-one basis is advantageous.
