Job description

Learning Support Assistant - SEN School Slough

We are excited to be partnering with a highly regarded SEN Support School in Slough, specialising in providing exceptional support to children with a range of complex needs, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), sensory impairments, and other severe to moderate learning difficulties. The school caters to students aged 4 to 18 years old, offering a nurturing environment for those with varying levels of special educational needs.

We are currently looking for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join the team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students who exhibit challenging behaviours and additional learning needs, including ADHD, autism, and other complex or physical disabilities.

Role:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with students in both 1:1 and small group settings, providing academic, emotional, and social support. Your role will primarily focus on assisting students to understand their learning materials, offering encouragement, and fostering positive relationships. Some students may require personal or intimate care (e.g. toileting and changing), and you will be expected to provide this support with dignity and respect.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the classroom teacher by providing insights on student progress and needs, and assisting with any delegated tasks.

  • Use your knowledge of complex learning difficulties to support individual students who require 1:1 assistance.

  • Aid students in understanding tasks, ensuring they have all necessary resources, and helping to motivate and engage them.

  • Provide personal/intimate care for students where needed.

  • Liaise with the SENCO/Inclusion Manager to ensure the effective delivery of SEN provisions.

Role Specifications:

  • Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:50 am to 3:40 pm (term-time only).

  • Salary: 90-95 per day, paid weekly (approximately (Apply online only) per week, PAYE).

  • Contract: Temporary to Permanent - a permanent contract will be offered after completing 12 academic weeks.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Must have or be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS check (cost 52.20) and be registered on the update service ( 13 per year).

  • Previous experience working in a school within the last two years is essential.

  • Experience supporting students with complex learning difficulties and additional needs.

  • Previous care experience or experience providing personal/intimate care for children is required.

If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with special educational needs, we would love to hear from you! Apply today and take the next step in your career supporting young learners with complex needs.
