Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a Learning Support Assistant in Maghull (L31) to support students in a secondary school starting September 2026. The role runs 8:30am–3:30pm, on a full-time basis, with pay to scale. You will work closely with teachers to support students with additional needs and help implement lesson plans.

Ideal candidates will have experience with children and supporting individuals with additional needs. Safeguarding training is desirable; DBS and two references are required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children.
• Experience supporting individuals with additional needs.
• Safeguarding training desirable but training will be provided.
• Right to Work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS or willingness to apply for a new one.
• Ability to provide two professional references (covering 24 months).

Contract Type: Full-time

Working Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm

Responsibilities

• Supporting Students: Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with additional needs, helping them engage and succeed in their studies.
• Classroom Assistance: Assist the class teacher in managing the classroom, preparing materials, and implementing lesson plans.
• Behavioural Support: Help manage and improve student behaviour, ensuring a positive and conducive learning environment.
• Encouraging Inclusion: Ensuring students feel valued and supported in the classroom.
• Monitoring Progress: Helping students achieve their learning goals.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with children.
• Experience supporting individuals with additional needs.
• Up-to-date Safeguarding training (desirable, but not essential as training will be provided).
• Right to Work in the UK.
• Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or willingness to apply for a new one.
• Ability to provide a minimum of two professional references covering 24 months/to cover the last 2 years
