Job summary

Prospero Teaching is excited to announce opportunities for dedicated graduates to join a secondary school in the Knowsley area as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. Based in Kirkby, L32, the role runs full-time from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, starting September 2026.

This temporary, long-term placement offers exposure to classroom support and pupil development within a vibrant school environment. You will help with behaviour management, provide emotional support, monitor wellbeing, and assist safeguarding

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children.
• Right to Work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to apply for a new one.
• Two professional references covering at least 24 months.

Graduate Teaching Assistant

Contract Type: Temporary, Long Term

Working Hours: Full-time, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm

Pay: Paid to scale

Responsibilities:

• Behaviour management: Foster a positive learning environment with good behaviour management.
• Providing emotional support: Offering guidance and support to students who may be dealing with personal issues or stress.
• Monitoring well-being: Keeping an eye on students' overall well-being and reporting any concerns to the appropriate staff members.
• Safeguarding: Ensuring the safeguarding procedure is followed when required
• Collaboration: Work closely with teachers to ensure lessons run smoothly and students thrive academically and socially.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working with children.
• Right to Work in the UK.
• Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or willingness to apply for a new one.

• Provide at least two professional references covering at least 24 months/cover the last 2 years
