Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

Salary: £20,906.25 per annum (not pro rata)

Location: School For Inspiring Talents, Devon, TQ12 1NH

Contract: Permanent; Term Time Only

Hours: 37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 4.30pm

About The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant based at our Newton Abbot / Ashburton school(s), you will be a key member of our team, enhancing the education of our students. This is a great opportunity in a growing school with excellent opportunities to build experience working with students with Social, Emotional & Mental Health difficulties (SEMH).

The role is challenging but rewarding, working in a dynamic environment where you can make a real difference. You will lead and coordinate flexible, person-centred programmes of study for individuals and groups of pupils. A practical, hands-on approach to teaching and a willingness to go above and beyond for pupils are essential.

Following a Thorough Induction Programme, Your Duties Will Include:
  • Work under the guidance of the Deputy Principal and class teacher to plan and implement work programmes for pupils with special needs.
  • Support the class teacher in managing and organising pupils with special needs in the classroom.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining a purposeful, orderly, and supportive learning environment.
  • Promote inclusion, ensuring all pupils have equal opportunities to learn and develop.
  • Safeguard the welfare of pupils within the school.
Key Skills Required
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Experience working with relevant age groups in a learning environment.
  • Experience working with students with additional needs.
  • Experience with clerical/administrative work.
  • Training in relevant curriculum or learning strategies.
