Job summary

Vision for Education is recruiting Learning Support Assistants to support SEMH & SEN students across North Somerset. A typical day starts 08:15 and finishes 15:30. We welcome flexible applicants for full-time and part-time roles across all year groups, with temp-to-perm opportunities.

Experience in education or care is desirable but not essential; drivers preferred but commuting is possible. A safeguarding DBS check will be undertaken for registered staff.

• Reliable and punctual with good communication.
• Able to cover all year groups and flexible with days/preferences.

Responsibilities

• Supporting students to engage in a range of enrichment activities.
• Developing learning resources individualized to students' communication needs.
• Working closely with teachers to follow session plans and report progress to inform planning.
• Utilising strategies from Positive Behaviour Support Plans to engage learners on-site or in the community.

Learning Support Assistant Vacancy November 2026

Vision for Education support a variety of SEMH & SEN primary and secondary schools in North Somerset, and are recruiting Learning Support Assistants who are flexible with supporting children across all ages. A typical working day would start at 08:15am and finish at 15:30pm. The schools we work with are welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environments where staff work collaboratively to help every child succeed. Students needs can vary from ASC, ADHD, ADD, challenging behaviours, learning difficulties, PMLD and Social Emotional Mental Health Needs. We will aim to find you work as close to home as possible.

We are looking for both full time and part time Learning Support Assistants who are happy to cover all year groups. If you have a specific preference of days you would like to work or age groups you would prefer to support, please let us know and we can meet your expectations. Permanent positions can be offered through Vision for Education on a temp-to-perm basis if the school feel you are the right fit, and this is something you wish to pursue yourself. The right candidate would ideally be a driver, but this is not essential, as long as you can easily commute to work as we are seeking highly reliable staff. Experience in the education or care sector is highly desired, but not essential.

Main Responsibilities:

• Supporting students to engage in a range of enrichment activities.


• Developing learning resources that are individualised to meet students communication needs.


• Working closely with teacher to follow session plans and schemes of work and reporting on the progress of students to inform future planning.


• Utilising strategies from students' Positive Behaviour Support Plan to engage effectively in learning, whether on-site or in the community.

Pay & Hours:

14.24 p/h. Monday - Friday 08:30am - 15:30pm, term time only.
