LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT

LEVEL 3

Grade 3 SCP 7-12 (£25,584 - £27,711 FTE)

(SCP 7 i.e. 76.82% of £25,584 = £19,653 per annum pro rata)

Start date - September 2025

1 x Position 32.5 Hours per Week (5 days Temporary for 1 year initially)

The Governing Body are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Learning Support Assistant to support staff in providing an excellent education, strong supervision and quality care of the children at Gwaunfarren Primary School.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, be confident, reliable, flexible and should be able to work as part of a team.

The successful candidate will be expected to, support class teachers to promote high standards, contribute to planning and developing a stimulating learning environment.

We would like the applicant to commit to continuous professional development including training within school and short/long-term courses outside school.

Key Duties

Plan, prepare and deliver assigned programmes of teaching and learning activities to individuals, groups and classes modifying and adapting activities as necessary under the overall direction and supervision of a teacher.

Assess, record and report on development, progress and attainment

Liaise with staff and other relevant professionals and provide information about pupils as appropriate

Assess the needs of pupils and use detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support learning

Support pupils in social and emotional well-being, reporting problems to the teacher as appropriate

Assist in developing and implementing Individual Development Plans, in conjunction with the class teacher for pupil with additional learning needs, as well as attending/contributing to Person Centred Planning meetings.

Cover short term teacher absence when required

Support the role of parents / carers in pupils learning and contribute to meetings with parents / carers to provide constructive feedback on pupil progress/achievement etc.

Support pupils with changing where required

Provide support to pupils with learning, behavioural, communication, social, sensory or physical difficulties

Provide support to pupils where English is not their first language

Provide support to more able and talented pupils
