Job summary

Great Oaks College is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to support students with special educational needs across two sites, including assisting with personal care when required.

The role requires calm, patient individuals who work well in teams, uphold safeguarding standards, and contribute to a positive learning environment. The position is permanent and term-time only, with a November 2026 start date and a salary in the Inner London pay scale range.

Qualifications

• Must be physically fit and willing to undertake all aspects of personal care.
• Good team working skills and passion for SEN.
• DBS check required upon appointment and satisfactory reference checks.

Responsibilities

• Support students with special educational needs across two sites and the college pathways.
• Assist with personal care including toileting and feeding when required.
• Work as part of a team to deliver learning activities and promote safeguarding standards.

Job description

Great Oaks College is a specialist independent college which is currently open to students across two sites.

The college provides further educational opportunities to students aged 19-25 with moderate, severe and profound and multiple learning difficulties, many of whom also have other needs such as physical disabilities, sensory impairments and autism. We run three Pathways: Vocational, Life and Living and Engagement for Life.

The Life and Living Pathway is located at the Triangle in Hounslow, Engagement for Life and Vocational Departments is located at the Windmill, Sunbury on Thames (the main College address).

We are looking to employ a Learning Support Assistant to our team. As well as being calm and patient, you will need a good team working skills and be passionate about supporting students with special educational needs. Applicants must be physically fit and willing to undertake all aspects of personal care including toileting and feeding.

Pay Scale: Inner London Pay Scale 5, P11 £33,870 to P15 £35,892 for the full time salary working all year round.

Actual annual salary: £24,49 to £25,953 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent - Term Time Only (39 weeks)

Hours of work: Monday to Friday 8:30am - 15:15pm, 30 hours per week, 39 weeks in a year
