Job summary

Randstad Staffing is partnering with a Further Education college in Bromley to recruit a Learning Support Assistant. You will provide 1:1 and group support to SEN learners, assist with personal care and mobility, and help students progress under EHCPs.

The role is term-time only, based on a Bromley campus, with DBS checks and right-to-work requirements. A patient, adaptable approach and willingness to work closely with curriculum staff are essential.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 Maths and English (or willing to achieve)
  • Patient, personable and adaptable with a genuine passion for SEN support
  • Comfortable assisting students with personal care and mobility (communication skills in Makaton/BSL/Sign-a-Long desirable)
  • Able to commute reliably to Bromley campus on a term-time schedule

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and group learning support to SEN students across various study programmes under the direction of curriculum staff
  • Assist learners with personal care, physical mobility, and safety in a respectful and dignified manner
  • Support students in achieving goals in their EHCPs
  • Ensure specialist assistive technologies and adaptive equipment are accessible and operational
  • Help learners develop study skills, self-advocacy, and independence within the college community
  • Monitor student progress and liaise with staff and external agencies as required

The Opportunity

We are partnering with a thriving Further Education college to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant. Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and group learning support to SEN students across various study programmes under the direction of curriculum staff.
  • Assist learners with their personal care, physical mobility, and safety in a respectful and dignified manner.
  • Support students in achieving the specific goals and outcomes detailed in their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Ensure specialist assistive technologies and adaptive equipment are accessible and fully operational for students.
  • Help learners develop study skills, self-advocacy, and independence within the college community.
  • Monitor student progress, contribute to person-centred support plan reviews, and liaise with key staff and external agencies when required.
What We Are Looking For
  • Qualifications: A good standard of general education, including Level 2 Maths and English (or a willingness to achieve this qualification).
  • Characteristics: Patient, personable, and adaptable with a genuine passion for SEN support. You must be comfortable and willing to assist students with personal care and mobility. (Communication skills in Makaton, BSL, or Sign-a-Long are desirable).
  • Transport / Commute: Able to commute reliably to the Bromley campus on a term-time schedule.
