Job summary

Vision for Education is seeking a caring Learning Support Assistant to work across inclusive primary schools in Thurrock. You will support pupils one-to-one and in small groups, helping them access learning and participate confidently.

The role offers long-term, flexible opportunities and potential permanency for the right candidate. You should be patient, team-spirited and communicate well with teachers, pupils and parents.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people in primary/educational settings.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Desirable TA qualifications (Level 2/3) but not essential.

Responsibilities

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

• Support pupils in the classroom on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
• Work closely with the class teacher to deliver engaging learning activities.
• Provide additional support to pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEND where required.
• Encourage pupil confidence, independence and positive behaviour.
• Help create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
• Assist with classroom preparation and learning resources.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.

The Ideal Candidate

To be considered for this role, you will:

• Have experience working with children or young people, ideally within a primary school or educational setting.
• Be patient, compassionate and enthusiastic about supporting children’s learning.
• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Be flexible, reliable and able to work as part of a team.
• Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one through Vision for Education.
• Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant are desirable but not essential.
