Job summary

Empowering Learning in Bolton is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join a well-resourced SEN school, supporting students with PMLD. This full-time role involves 1:1 and small-group support, aiding personal care, communication needs, and sensory activities, under the guidance of teachers and therapists.

You will contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment and collaborate with families to support holistic development.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children/young people with PMLD/MLD or similar learning difficulties.
• Patient, empathetic and proactive approach to supporting students.
• Strong communication with students and colleagues.
• Ability to calmly manage challenging behaviour.

Learning Support Assistant

Location: Bolton

Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm

Pay: £16.79 per hour

Start Date: ASAP

We're seeking an exceptional Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and well‑resourced special educational needs school in Bolton. This full‑time role offers a deeply rewarding opportunity to support students with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) – helping them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Personal care is involved in this role (toilet/changing students).

What You'll Be Doing

• Providing tailored 1:1 and small‑group support to students with PMLD
• Assisting with personal care, communication aids, sensory activities, and physiotherapy routines
• Creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
• Collaborating closely with teachers, therapists, and families to deliver holistic support

Essential Skills and Experience

• Previous experience working with children or young people with PMLD, MLD, or other learning difficulties is preferred
• A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students
• Strong communication skills, both with students and colleagues
• Ability to manage challenging behaviour in a calm and constructive manner
• A commitment to making a positive impact on students' emotional and academic development
