Job summary

Denstone College is seeking enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to join our Prep School team. You will provide in-class support, assist pupils with SEN (including EHCP cases), and deliver 1:1 and small group interventions to help pupils progress.

Ideal candidates will have SEN experience, strong communication and IT skills, and an understanding of phonics and safeguarding. A first aid qualification is highly desirable. We offer professional development and a supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs.
  • Experience planning, preparing, and delivering classwork and intervention groups.
  • Good communication and IT skills with empathy and listening.
  • Ability to form appropriate relationships and maintain boundaries with children.
  • Understanding of phonics instruction.
  • Understanding safeguarding and reporting concerns.
  • First aid qualification is highly desired.

Job description

  • Liaising and collaborating with class teachers to support pupils both in the classroom and during smaller sessions.
About You

The successful candidates will be flexible, tenacious, and willing to go the 'extra mile' for our pupils. You should possess:

  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs.
  • Experience in planning, preparing, and delivering specific work to classes, as well as running intervention groups.
  • Good communication and IT skills, coupled with strong empathy and listening skills.
  • The ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people.
  • An understanding of the teaching of phonics.
  • An understanding of the importance of safeguarding and communicating concerns effectively.
  • A first aid qualification is highly desired.
