Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs in a primary school setting? Luke Maling at Academics is working with a well-regarded SEN primary school in Haywards Heath, seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their team.
This is a rewarding opportunity to help young learners with a range of additional needs thrive in a nurturing, inclusive, and engaging environment.
Provide one-to-one and small group support to primary-aged pupils with SEND, including ASD, ADHD, SLD, PMLD, and communication needs.
Assist the class teacher in adapting and delivering lessons that meet the individual needs and learning styles of each student.
Work closely with the SENCO and support staff to implement and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment that builds confidence, independence, and a love for learning.
Use appropriate strategies to support students' academic progress, social development, and emotional regulation.
Assist with personal care and mobility support when required, ensuring all pupils are treated with dignity and compassion.
Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs, ideally in a primary school or specialist setting.
A solid understanding of SEND strategies, including differentiation, positive behaviour support, and communication systems such as PECS or Makaton.
A patient, proactive, and caring nature with a genuine interest in supporting children's development.
Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
