Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only (Fixed Term or Temp-to-Perm)
Salary: £19,500 – £22,000 pro rata (dependent on experience)

An Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ secondary school in Chester is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join the team from September 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates in Psychology, Education, or a related field – as well as individuals with experience in youth work, care, SEN, or classroom support – to gain hands-on experience in a rewarding educational environment.

The Role:

You will support students with additional needs (including SEN, SEMH, or learning difficulties) to access the curriculum, develop confidence, and achieve academic and personal growth. Working closely with the school’s SENCo and teaching staff, you’ll deliver support both in and out of the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual learning needs
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being
  • Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
  • Liaise with teachers, pastoral teams, and families to ensure student progress

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • A degree in Psychology, Sociology, Education, or a similar discipline
  • Experience working with young people, either in schools or in a care/support setting
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient nature
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A strong interest in inclusive education and student development
