Job summary

Cover People are recruiting an SEMH Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist provision in Chapel-en-le-Frith, supporting students with SEMH to re-engage with learning and develop resilience.

You will deliver 1:1 and small-group support, assist with behaviour management using restorative approaches, and collaborate with teachers to monitor progress. A calm, patient and resilient approach and a genuine passion for helping vulnerable young people are essential.

Setting: Small secondary school for children with SEMH needs.

This rewarding role involves supporting students who require additional emotional, behavioural and academic support, helping them to re-engage with education and develop the skills needed for future success.

The provision offers a personalised and nurturing approach, with a strong focus on wellbeing, positive relationships and tailored learning pathways. Staff work closely together to ensure every student receives the support they need to make meaningful progress.

The Role:

Requirements

• A CV with full history from your education until present.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Valid photo ID and proof of address.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for a new one).
• Minimum of 2 professional references, covering the last 2 years.
• A supportive and consistent attitude, with a genuine passion for working with vulnerable young people.
• Overseas police certificate (if applicable).

All pay rates include 12.07% statutory holiday pay where applicable.
