Job Description

The Learning Support Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting students with additional learning needs within the education setting. The main duties include:

• Assisting students on a 1-1 basis with their learning activities under the guidance of the teaching staff
• Providing one-to-one support to students who require additional help
• Helping to create and maintain a supportive and inclusive learning environment
• Assisting with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
• Supporting students with emotional and behavioural difficulties
• Monitoring student progress and reporting back to teaching staff
• Attending training days and sessions set up by the school

Qualifications and Skills

Required Qualifications:

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
• Relevant experience working with individuals with additional learning needs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Additional Knowledge and Experience:

• Previous experience in a similar role within an educational setting
• Knowledge of special educational needs and disabilities
• Understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures
• Ability to adapt support strategies to meet individual student needs

Preferred Qualifications:

• First Aid training
• Mental Health Awareness training

Driving is desirable; however, the school is accessible by bus route.

Pay rates will include statutory holiday pay. This is a temporary position, with potential for permanence later.
