GSL Education is seeking a Learning Support Assistant in Bedlington, Northumberland, to provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with additional needs. This role focuses on fostering positive learning engagement, social and emotional development, and safe classroom environments while working closely with teachers and support staff.

Ideal candidates have experience in SEN/SEND or related fields; those with transferable care, youth work or mentoring backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Competenze

• Experience in SEN/SEND beneficial but not required.
• Strong practical experience with children or vulnerable individuals valued.
• Patience, resilience and reliability essential.

Learning Support Assistant

Location: Bedlington, Northumberland (NE22)
Salary: £90-£115 per day, depending on experience
Contract: Full-Time / Long-Term Opportunities

GSL Education is currently recruiting a dedicated and resilient Learning Support Assistant to work within a supportive education setting in the Bedlington area.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working directly with children and young people and wants to make a genuine difference to pupils who may require additional support with their learning, behaviour, communication or emotional development.

Previous experience within a school is beneficial, but we are also keen to hear from candidates with transferable experience from care, residential support, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring or other support-based roles.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils.
• Help pupils engage positively with learning and classroom activities.
• Support children and young people with additional needs.
• Build positive, consistent and professional relationships with pupils.
• Support pupils with their social and emotional development.
• Encourage positive behaviour, confidence and independence.

You should be patient, resilient, reliable and confident, with the ability to build strong relationships with young people while maintaining clear professional boundaries.

Relevant qualifications are desirable but not always essential. Strong practical experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable individuals will also be considered.
