Job summary

Sunderland College is seeking a proactive Cover Supervisor to support 16-18 learners across various subjects. You will supervise pre-set activities and deliver learning in the absence of a teacher, ensuring a constructive classroom climate.

The role requires excellent communication, organisational skills, and ICT literacy, with 1–2 years’ experience in delivering high-quality teaching and learning. A degree or teaching qualification is preferred.

About the Candidate
  • You will:
    • Enjoy working with young people aged 16-18.
    • Possesses excellent organisation, communication and interpersonal skills.
    • be energetic, well-motivated, and flexible.
    • work independently and show initiative.
    • be ICT literate and competent with various software packages.
    • Holds a degree qualification or equivalent or a qualification in teaching and learning.
    • Have a minimum 1-2 years experience of delivering high quality teaching and learning.
About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, flexible, and proactive teacher to join our team as a Cover Supervisor. This vital role supports the continued learning and development of our 16-18 year old students by supervising and delivering whole class teaching and learning activities during any short-term teacher absence across a wide variety of subject areas and levels. The Cover Supervisor will deliver pre-set work and assist students with their activities, ensuring a constructive and positive learning environment at all times.

Role Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support students in completing pre-prepared tasks and activities.
  • Promote and manage classroom behaviour to ensure a conducive learning environment.
  • Respond to students' questions and provide assistance with their work.
  • Liaise with curriculum staff regarding student progress.
Qualifications
  • Hold a qualification in Teaching and Learning.
  • Level 2 in English and Maths
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Experience of working in an educational setting working with young people,
  • Excellent communication skills.
