It's bringing future generations closer to a fascinating past.

It's researching, sharing and bringing to life incredible historic places and one of the world's greatest art collections. This is what makes working for Royal Collection Trust so different.

Unique in both quality and diversity, The Royal Collection has a fascinating history, and our Learning section is responsible for sharing its stories in ways that engage, surprise and inspire.

The schools programme consists of a wide range of learning sessions for pupils between the ages of 4 and 18, alongside an extensive family offer during school holidays.

As Learning Officer, you’ll therefore play a key role in helping to translate history into exciting and thought-provoking events, via innovative programmes that reach a wide range of audiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To deliver taught sessions and organise tours or self-guided visits for schools and other educational institutions, including events in partnership with external institutions.
  • To contribute to the development of new schools’ programmes, resources and learning opportunities in conjunction with the Learning Manager.
  • To develop and deliver provision for families in conjunction with the Learning Manager.
  • To support the programming of the learning team across a range of audiences.
  • Working with colleagues, to promote learning programmes and act as the key contact point for a variety of organisations interested in our Learning provision.

About you

  • You'll possess a thorough understanding of the National Curriculum and curriculum approaches.
  • You're experienced in devising and leading workshops/practical teaching sessions and developing and producing educational resource material, ideally gained in a museum, gallery or heritage environment.
  • With excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a broad range of people, you'll be able to impart specialist knowledge and unfamiliar concepts in an accessible way for a range of audiences.
  • You'll have the ability to think creatively and innovatively in developing new programmes and means of delivery.
  • At your best working as part of a team, you can establish good professional relationships with colleagues and external partners
  • Able to thrive in a busy environment, you have great planning skills and can maintain patience and empathy when working under pressure.

We know that to deliver our best work; we need to feel at our best. That’s why at the Royal Household we offer a generous benefits package designed to support your wellbeing and life priorities.

  • Enjoy 25 days annual leave, rising to 30 days pro rata (plus bank holidays) dependent on the length of time you have worked for us.
  • Flexible and hybrid working varies across different roles, and we’ll discuss the options available to you that will suit both your job requirements and individual preferences.
  • Our excellent non-contributory pension plan (we’ll contribute 15% and you can contribute more if you wish) is highly valued by our employees, as is complimentary lunch on-site to keep you fuelled throughout the day.
  • We also offer a range of leave options to support your life priorities, such as parental pay and leave and volunteering days, as well as benefits to support your physical and mental wellbeing.
  • Other perks include 20% off at our Royal Collection Trust Shops and complimentary admission tickets across all our locations, along with many more exclusive employee discounts.
