Job summary

Think FE Ltd is recruiting a Learning Mentor for a forward-thinking further education college in Warwickshire. The role involves providing in-class and one-to-one mentoring support to students with SEND, helping them become more independent and confident learners.

It is a permanent, term-time only position (36 weeks per year) with 35 hours weekly, and a salary of £24,897 per annum pro rata. The post requires intimate personal care as part of duties, with enhanced pay for those hours.

Qualifications

• English and Maths skills equivalent to Level 2.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate students and adapt to learning styles.
• Good organisation and record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-class and one-to-one mentoring support for students with SEND.
• Encourage students to become increasingly confident and independent learners.
• Act as a key worker for designated students with EHCPs and support annual reviews.
• Work closely with teaching, tutorial and SEND colleagues to monitor individual targets and progress.
• Help students manage deadlines and catch up with missed work.
• Support with work experience placements and educational trips where required.
• Maintain records of student support, progress and reviews.
• Contribute to risk assessments, emergency evacuation plans, medical protocols and exam access arrangements.
• Attend relevant team meetings, training and development.
• Support with exam invigilation during busy periods where required.
