Job summary

Osborne Primary School is seeking a caring Learning Mentor to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. You will support children's wellbeing, engagement and achievement, building positive relationships and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.

The role focuses on promoting positive attitudes toward learning, resilience and social-emotional development, with collaborative work alongside teachers and families to monitor progress and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children and supporting their learning, wellbeing or personal development.
• Can build positive, trusting relationships with children from diverse backgrounds and with differing needs.
• Demonstrates patience, empathy and a calm, consistent approach.
• Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Can encourage positive behaviour, resilience and independence.
• Works effectively as part of a team and communicates well with colleagues and families.
• Is organised, proactive and able to use their initiative.

Responsibilities

• Build trusting relationships with pupils, providing guidance, encouragement and support.
• Identify barriers to learning and help pupils develop strategies to overcome them.
• Provide individual and small-group support to improve engagement, confidence and progress.
• Support pupils' social, emotional and behavioural development.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to monitor pupil progress and wellbeing.
• Contribute to support plans and maintain accurate records of interventions and progress.
• Communicate effectively with parents, carers and relevant professionals where appropriate.
• Promote positive behaviour, inclusion and a safe, supportive learning environment.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and promote the welfare of all children.
