Job summary

Qualiteach Education Group is seeking a Learning Mentor for a primary school in Lambeth to support a pupil with SEMH. The role is to start ASAP, delivering proactive support to help the pupil regulate emotions and engage with learning.

You will work with the class teacher and SLT, building trust and ensuring a positive, inclusive environment for the child and the class.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEMH needs.
• Proactive and able to identify when a pupil may need additional support.
• Collaborates with teaching staff and SLT to implement strategies.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated support to a child with SEMH to help them feel safe and engaged in learning.
• Build a trusting relationship with the pupil and use calm, consistent approaches to support emotional regulation.

The Position - Learning Mentor

A welcoming primary school in Lambeth is seeking a committed, proactive and supportive Learning Mentor to join their team as soon as possible. The successful Learning Mentor will provide dedicated support to a child with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to feel safe, settled and confident within the school environment. The role will involve building a strong and trusting relationship with the pupil, using a calm and consistent approach to encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement with learning. The successful Learning Mentor will need to be proactive, show initiative and be able to identify when a pupil may need additional support before situations escalates. You will work closely with the class teacher and the school's supportive SLT team, contributing to strategies that help the pupil develop their confidence, independence and ability to manage challenges throughout the school day. Experience working with children who have SEMH needs, behavioural difficulties or additional emotional needs would be highly advantageous.
