Job summary

Guardian Homecare Limited is seeking Learning Disability Support Workers in Basildon, England to empower individuals in their daily lives. You will provide personal care, medication support and social engagement in community settings, with full paid training available and no prior social care experience required.

Driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential due to coverage across SS13, SS14 and SS15.

Responsibilities

• Empowering independence by helping individuals develop daily living skills.
• Community access support for college, shopping, hobbies and social activities.
• Personal care including bathing, dressing and grooming as required.
• Medication support including collection, reminders and administration.
• Emotional support and encouragement to build confidence and self-esteem.
• Encourage social engagement and family connections; monitor wellbeing and report changes.
• Maintain accurate documentation and respond to emergencies safely.
• Collaborate with families and the wider care team.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Empowering Independence (helping individuals develop essential life skills, from cooking and budgeting to household tasks)
• Community Access (supporting individuals to get out and about to college, shopping, hobbies, and social activities)
• Personal care (providing dignified support with bathing, dressing, and grooming as required)
• Medication support (collecting prescriptions, providing reminders, and administration)
• Emotional support (being a consistent, encouraging presence to help build confidence and self-esteem)

You’ll also:

• Encourage social engagement and family connections
• Monitor wellbeing and report any changes to healthcare professionals and family
• Maintain accurate documentation of support provided
• Respond to emergencies safely and effectively
• Work collaboratively with families and the wider care team

Qualifications What You’ll Need (Besides a Cape!)

Driving Requirement:

• Access to a vehicle and a full driving licence is strictly required due to the community-based nature of this role covering SS13, SS14, and SS15.

• A positive, energetic, and proactive attitude (as resilient as a rubber band and eager to learn)
• Strong communication and listening skills (that would make a UN diplomat jealous)
• Problem-solving abilities
• Reliability and a caring, supportive nature
