Job summary

Marva Group in Dudley, United Kingdom is seeking a Learning Disability Support Worker to join our community care team. You will support young people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour in their homes and local communities, helping them build independence and confidence with person-centred care.

We look for resilient, patient individuals with PMVA training, strong de-escalation skills and a commitment to safe, respectful support.

Qualifications

  • 12 months’ experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.
  • PMVA training.
  • Strong de-escalation and behaviour management skills.
  • Experience promoting independent living skills such as routines and nutrition.
  • Driving licence and access to own vehicle.
  • Right to Work documentation required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent, person-centred support to young people with learning disabilities and complex needs in homes and local communities.
  • Plan and facilitate engaging, structured activities to build independence and social confidence.
  • Support daily living skills including meal planning, shopping, personal routines, and dietary needs.
  • Apply PMVA techniques and de-escalation strategies to safely manage challenging behaviours.
  • Maintain accurate digital care notes, risk assessments, and incident reports.
  • Collaborate with families, carers, and MDTs to ensure positive outcomes.

To be successful in this Learning Disability Support Worker role, you must have:

  • At least 12 months’ experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.
  • PMVA training.
  • Strong de-escalation and behaviour management skills.
  • Experience promoting independent living skills such as routines and nutrition.
  • Confidence using digital care planning systems for accurate record keeping.
  • A valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK (Right to Work documentation required).
  • NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People or Adults).
Desirable Qualifications
  • First Aid training or equivalent.
About The Role
Your Responsibilities as a Community Support Worker

As a Support Worker specialising in learning disabilities and complex needs, your key duties will include:

  • Providing consistent, person-centred support to young people with learning disabilities and complex needs in their homes and local community.

  • Maintaining accurate and professional digital care notes, risk assessments, and incident reports.
  • Collaborating with families, carers, and multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) to ensure positive outcomes.
Required Criteria
  • Confidence in using digital care planning systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and a calm, resilient and professional attitude.
  • A valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
Desired Criteria
  • NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Adults or Children).
  • Current First Aid training.
