Job summary

Marva Group in Stoke-on-Trent is hiring a Learning Disability Support Worker to assist young people with learning disabilities in their homes and local community. You will promote independence, plan activities and support daily living skills under supervision.

The role requires PMVA training, a valid UK driving licence, and eligibility to work in the UK. Join a dedicated team offering ongoing development and clear progression.

Qualifications

  • 12 months’ experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.
  • PMVA training and de-escalation skills.
  • Experience promoting independent living skills (routine, nutrition).
  • Confidence using digital care planning systems for accurate note keeping.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent, person-centred support to young people with learning disabilities in homes and community.
  • Plan and facilitate engaging activities to build independence and social confidence.
  • Support daily living skills including meals, shopping, and routines.
  • Apply PMVA techniques and de-escalation to manage behaviours safely.
  • Maintain accurate digital care notes, risk assessments and incident reports.
  • Collaborate with families, carers and MDTs to achieve positive outcomes.

To be successful in this Learning Disability Support Worker role, you must have:

  • At least 12 months’ experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.
  • PMVA training
  • Strong de-escalation and behaviour management skills.
  • Experience promoting independent living skills such as routines and nutrition.
  • Confidence using digital care planning systems for accurate record keeping.
  • A valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK (Right to Work documentation required)
  • NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People or Adults).

About The Role
Your Responsibilities as a Community Support Worker

As a Support Worker specialising in learning disabilities and complex needs, your key duties will include:

  • Providing consistent, person-centred support to young people with learning disabilities and complex needs in their homes and local community.
  • Planning and facilitating engaging, structured activities to build independence and social confidence.
  • Supporting with daily living skills including meal planning, shopping, dietary needs and personal routines.
  • Applying PMVA techniques and de-escalation strategies to safely manage challenging behaviours.
  • Maintaining accurate and professional digital care notes, risk assessments, and incident reports.
  • Collaborating with families, carers, and multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) to ensure positive outcomes.
Required Criteria
  • Confidence in using digital care planning systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and a calm, resilient and professional attitude.
  • A valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
Desired Criteria
  • NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Adults or Children).
  • Current First Aid training.
